New ways to add self-care to your routine

More than just getting a manicure or massage, self-care is a way of refueling and putting your physical, emotional and mental needs first. Here’s how:

Simplify your schedule

With an ever-growing list of to-dos and competing priorities, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Simplifying your schedule so you can focus on the things that are most important is a great way to practice self-care. Prioritize what’s important to you in advance. Learn to say no to things that aren’t in alignment with your top goals and areas of focus.

Create a Gratitude List

Research has shown that gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. The key to gratitude is finding ways to appreciate all of the wonderful things that are in your life, big and small. Use a journal to write down things that you are thankful for each day. Once you create a gratitude list, make sure your loved ones know how much they mean to you.

Practice mini-meditation

You don't have to have a full meditation or yoga routine to reap the benefits of these practices. Begin or end each day with a minute of deep breathing. This practice will help you feel focused and bring awareness of your body, thoughts, and feelings. Don't forget to take periodic breaks during the day and practice deep breathing.
